Lord Cashman CBE – Presenter
Michael Cashman grew up in the East End of London in the 1950’s. He went on to make history - first as a successful actor on stage, film and TV, then as a campaigner and Politician. He now sits as a Life Peer in the House of Lords – Baron Cashman of Limehouse.
In 1989 he became a Founder of Stonewall with his long-time friend Sir Ian McKellen, with the objective of campaigning on issues such as the repeal of Section 28, an end to the ban on LGBT people in the armed forces, equalising the Age of Consent, adoption and IVF rights for same-sex couples and the introduction of Civil Partnerships.
Lord Cashman continues to be staunchly opposed to discrimination and homophobia, he was a member of the Civil Liberties Committee and President of the European Parliament's Intergroup on gay and lesbian issues.
His autobiography 'One of Them : From Albert Square to Parliament Square' was published in 2020.
Matt Cain – Host
Matt Cain is a writer, broadcaster, and a leading commentator on LGBT+ issues.
He served as Channel 4's first Culture Editor and held the position of Editor-In-Chief at Attitude magazine. He has also contributed to major national newspapers and hosted Virgin Radio Pride's flagship discussion show. In addition, he is an ambassador for Manchester Pride, the Albert Kennedy Trust, and a patron of LGBT+ History Month.
All other proceeds were donated by Foster + Partners to the Paul Cottingham Trust.
